Day 87 - Graceland

It is amazing what some people achieve in their lifetime.  I have never been a huge fan of Elvis's music, but I am a huge fan of the man.  He was quite remarkable.   And he must have made a lot of money.

Graceland must have been wonderful before the city moved out to its boarders.  It is still something.

We got VIP passes so we could see everything that was offered.

First into the house.

It is a great combination of elegant and fun.   You could see by the rooms like the 'jungle room', pool room, tv room, racquetball court, and stable, that Elvis enjoyed living life.   Graceland had to be a great refuge for him.

I never realized the Lisa Marie was so big.  Awesome inside.

Lori is coming out of a smaller jet that he also owned.

Elvis is buried here along with his Grandmother, Father, and Mother.   His Grandmother lived to be 90 years old.  Coming from poverty, the depression, World Wars, it must have been something for her to be a part of all of this.   She lived with everyone at Graceland and it had to be sad for her as she outlived Elvis, his mother, and Vernon, his father and her son.

We went into Archives buildings, trophy buildings, music buildings, and his auto collection.

A lunch of burgers and fries at the Rock and Roll Cafe.

Graceland's exterior walls are filled with notes and love expressed for him.

The front gates of Graceland.

Lori had a note for him as well.

Then off to Sun Records.

Lori finally got her big break.

Martha decided to go solo.   You go girl!

I was happy to find this T-shirt of my favorite, Roy Orbison.

Leaving Sun Records the Sun was starting to set.   We drove across the Mississippi to Arkansas.

Dessert at the DQ.

Back at the RV Lori and Martha removed the Arkansas map sticker.

And in the dark, Lori added it to the map on the trailer's side.

Their flight back to Phoenix is at 7:30am tomorrow.   We'll drop them off and then pick up the trailer for our four hour drive to Vicksburg.   Elvis is the King, worthy of the title.  Thank you Ma'am.

  3. Graceland was AWESOME!! I never knew I would feel such a sense of loss. Elvis was such a talent. He was surely gone too soon.
