Day 86 - Memphis

Maybe '"I'm Crazy" but on our way to Memphis today we stopped at a rest area named after a couple of the greats.  Four and a half hours to Memphis, we got out before 8am again and checked in to the Graceland RV Resort just after noon.

Brent and Lori crossed Tennessee with us from one end to the other.

As soon as we got set up we charged over to the banks of the Mississippi to take a Riverboat Cruise past Downtown Memphis.

We had a nice rail side table.  The temperature was in the 80's but the air coming off of the river felt pretty cool.

A nice paddlewheel journey.

The dock is located at the end of Beale Street.  Beale is the street to be on in Memphis.
We walked the couple of blocks to the action.   A statue of the King guarding the entrance.

The Orpheum Theater was enroute, the Jersey Boys are playing tonight.

Keep trying girls, persistence is the key to success.

The main area is two blocks long and is loaded with shops, bars with live entertainment, and restaurants.

One of the shops had the coolest door stop that I have ever seen.  I wanted to buy one but they were out of stock.    (and $30)

The sun was setting when we walked back to the truck.  Our plan was to go to Marlene's BBQ Restaurant for dinner.   It was near our trailer and recommended by the lady who checked us in to the RV Park.

If you call ahead of time, they send their pink limo to pick you up.

Lori ordered a drink and was carded.   The highlight of the day for sure.

The food was really great.   We all enjoyed our meal, right down to dessert.

They had live entertainment, which did not meet with Lori's liking.   Good thing it didn't start until dessert.  Lori couldn't get out of the place fast enough once the 'singer' broke into song.   An Elvis impersonator of sorts.....  And Oh, those high notes......  Aside from trying to hang herself with her napkin, Lori was howling.

Tomorrow we have a couple of spots to see and then we are going to tour Graceland.  I can't believe that Lori and Brent's time with us is nearing an end.   It has been so great having them with us, a real touch of home.  With their departure Friday morning, that gives us room for you!
