Day 76 - Fort Lauderdale

An hour an fifteen minutes to Fort Lauderdale, we left the trailer at 8:15 and arrived at 9:30.   Enough time to grab a Starbucks and get to the boat which loaded at 10:20 for an hour and a half tour.  It departed right on time at 11am.

I don't know why they call it the Jungle Queen, there is certainly no jungle around unless you consider the winners of the asphalt jungle who live here on Millionaires Row.  We were the first on board and early enough to chase our coffee with a couple of Bloody Marys.

The clouds probably kept the crowd down, although the tour boat, which held 550,  reached about 60 passengers before departure.   The temperature was in the low 80's and the skis went from blue to black and back to blue throughout the trip as the pictures will depict.

I took 160 pictures of yachts and houses.   Only about a dozen on the BLOG but every one was worth a look.   Amazing.  Not as many celebrities own homes here on Millionaires Row as business owners.  The owner of the Pet Supermarket, Kohls, Oscar Meyer, Sunglass Hut, Wendy's, and local small business owners that bought many years ago when the sales price was $10,000 for a lot and house on the channel and not today's prices of 10-30 million dollars.

Some of the celebrities, Nick Nolte, Sonny and Cher's former home, Lee Majors, and Merv Griffin's.

This house is owned by a man name Hutchins who designs transmissions and air conditioners for GM.  Makes the White House look like it could use a new location.  Maybe if the South would have won the Civil War this would be the Capital.

Several Draw Bridges had to open so that we could pass.   Pretty cool.

The is the Rolls Royce of yachts.   Hand made over seven years, it carried a 150 million dollar price tag.  To dock a yacht here costs a mere $8.00.  Even I can afford that!!

Whoops! That is $8.00 a foot per day.   This one at 200 feet is only $1,600.00 a day to dock.  I guess I can only afford to dock it for long enough to jump off, say a minute?

The yacht below was formerly owned by Evil Knievel.  He lost it to its current owner in a poker game.  "I'll see your Porche Turbo, and raise you a 45' yacht."

This Eleven Million Dollar home was given as a wedding gift by the Uncle of the lucky newlyweds.

"Gee, Thanks, Unk."

Remember the song, "Oh I wish I were an Oscar Meyer wiener,  that is what I'd really like to be.   Cause if I were......."   Well, we should have sang, "I wish I was selling Oscar Meyer Wiener's"

The house below belongs to the owner of Oscar Meyer.  It's kind of hard to see with his boat obscuring the view.

Docked here is the largest cruise ship in the world.  The new Allure Seas operated by Royal Caribbean.  It hold 6,000 guests and has a crew of 2,000.

We stopped by the beach for a few.   Windy, but warm, and the skies turned blue.  Again.

Thanks for cruising Millionaires Row with us.
