Day 48 - Hershey, Pa

Only half an hour away to the Hershey Plant in Hershey.  This billboard welcomes visitors to the town.

Then we went over to the plant tour

The tour is definitely Disney inspired and a cross between 'It's A Small
World' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean.  You ride in a car on a track as it goes through the 'plant' and explains and demonstrates how the chocolate is made.

Narrated by milk cows and Hershey Bars.

This is a big vat and looked soooo good

You finish in their store, naturally, which houses gifts and a cafeteria.  There is also....

The Worlds Biggest Hershey Candy Store.

Hershey's Motto

We had lunch at Wendy's.  Then off to a huge RV Show that just happened to be going on.

After walking our feet off at the show we headed home.  So many fantastic homes.

We didn't buy any candy as we still have plenty of 'loot' from yesterday.  We did purchase a WiFi antenna for the trailer that is supposed to boost the signal.   It remains to be seen.  Tomorrow we head to New Jersey to another RV Park.   Old Cedar Campground.  It's only about two and a half hours away so it will be an easy drive day.   See you soon!

  1. The Hershey Museum Tour was also amazing. And all of it and the plant tour was also free even the parking. Ben and Jerry could take a lesson here. I had no idea who Milton Hershey was. He was an amazing humanitarian. He built his city for his employees. Encouraged them to buy homes which he financed at low rates, built parks, theaters, sports complexes, an amusement park, and encouraged them to do other things. The founder of Reese's was a Hershey employee who started his business in his basement. Mr. and Mrs. Hershey had no children of their own. He founded a school for orphaned boys, housing, feeding, clothing, and educating them. When he passed away he left the majority of the Hershey company to his school. The company continues to support it still. In 1973 it became coed and no longer required that the students to be orphans. People in the town and at the factory speak very kindly of him. He was quite a man.
