Day 12 - Sturgis

We have added South Dakota to our little map.

RV park has a nice pool.  Water is advertised at 81 degrees.  Is that good?

Devoted our day to Sturgis.  It is about a hours ride from the park.   Although our Harley is sitting in the garage at Havasu, we had a great time looking at all of the bikes and all the stuff.  I would gladly come again.  It would be nice to have the bike here but no way could I make the trip via bike alone.  We may trailer the bike most of the way sometime and ride the rest.  Great fun.

There isn't a Starbucks in town, so I had to settle for a beer.

So many bikes it is really something to see.

When we first talked about this trip we debated taking the Camero and staying in hotels or taking the fifth wheel.  When we worked out the prices, better gas mileage, more expensive hotel stays, we decided it was a toss up.   I am so glad we elected to take the trailer.  The nine months we lived in it in San Diego really made it feel like a home to us.  I really don't feel like we are traveling around, it is like we leave our door in the morning and the world around us has moved.  It is so nice to feel as though we are coming home every night.  And although wherever Martha is, it is home to me, it doesn't hurt to have the trailer there as well.  We are enjoying every minute of the trip so far.  Tomorrow we will go to Custer and Mount Rushmore.  Each day an adventure, each night at home.

  2. Another fun day. The people are all so friendly. Everyone talks to each other asking about us and tell us about them and taking pictures for each other. When people ask where we are from we have settled on saying Lake Tahoe, California. Not everyone knows where Tahoe is. We are enjoying each day and do feel like we are home in the evenings. Right down to doing laundry! Miss all of you.

  3. This is the BEST adventure. Another amazing day in the books!! I can't wait to see pics of Mt. Rushmore! Sturgis looks pretty "lit," as D would say. I would feel like an imposter there without owning a Harley, so I am glad I can live vicariously through you guys, at least until dad passed the Harley down. Haha
