Day 97 - Catherine and Joe

Some days start out good and get better from there.   We woke to an extra hours sleep thanks to the time change and to this view at the foot of our bed.

On the way to a 9:30 Mass we drove by this awesome life size Navy Fighter Model and the Aircraft Carrier USS Lexington moored here.

Mass was an hour and twenty minutes.   It was the most elaborate Mass we have been to since attending Mass at the Vatican.   Then we discovered it was televised live on the Corpus Christi Local PBS TV channel.  That explains the formality which included six alter boys (1 was a girl),  six Nuns, Eight Knights of Columbus in full dress uniforms, Two Priests, and a Choir of thirty.  It was very nice in spite of its length.

Then we met Catherine and Joe at a place called Citrus Bistro for Brunch.   Great choice.  The food was good and best of all the place was quiet which allowed my deaf ears to hear all the conversation.

The Bistro is right on the dock in front of the Marina.   Huge Marina.

Brunch conversation was not enough to satisfy us, our little group relocated on the balcony of their condo.   There is no better place.  Beautiful, peaceful, and great company.   The USS Lexington was visible from their balcony.

We also saw a dolphin surfacing and diving.   Unable with several attempts to catch a picture of it on the surface, I am submitting this photo of him under the surface.   A rare snapshot, I know.

Cargo ships passed as Corpus Christi is the fifth largest port in the USA.

And some pleasure boats as well.

Not too many swimmers today as it was a bit cloudy.

Only a single runner exerting himself along the beach.   I thought about joining him.
For a second.

Tomorrow afternoon we will be in San Antonio.  I know I will be wishing I was on the balcony again.   Good thing we don't live near by or it would be a daily event.  When we saw Pelican's and Sea Gulls starting to circle and the sun getting low in the sky, that was our clue that it was to depart.   With an open Tahoe invitation, we hope to see Catherine and Joe again  soon.

An Easterly view here and back at the trailer the sun was starting to set.

Some residents were on the pier fishing.

As was this guy.  It appeared to us that he was more successful at it though.

We sat on the sea wall with a Westerly view the short time until the sun set.

What a wonderful day.   The days we have had with family and good friends are always the best.

Only a three hour drive tomorrow to San Antonio and the River Walk.
It isn't too late to join us, come on along.  We still have 11 days remaining.

  2. Catherine and I so enjoyed the time spent with both of you. A day of good company, quiet conversation and wondering how 46 years slipped by so quickly was washed away in an instant... We are now figuring out when to take several weeks to visit the west coast early next fall. We don't want 46 years to pass before our next get together. I'll bring bloody Mary's.
